Work Experience
July 2023 - Dec 2024
Flix Interactive - Junior Engineer
This was my first games industry role right out of University. I joined as a Junior Engineer and spent a lot of time learning from others on the same level as well as in more senior positions. I learnt so much from this role, and it built up my confidence with using the Unreal Engine as well as the C++ programming language.
My responsibilities within this role included;
-
Bug Fixing, using the debugging tools provided by Visual Studio and Unreal Engine.
-
Creating Tech Design Documents and implementing new features in a yet unannounced professional AAA game studio project.
-
Exploring and communicating my ideas for solutions to any problems that the team faced on the project, giving feedback and ensuring the design needs were met.
-
Having my work peer reviewed and checked, taking on board any feedback to ensure my work was to the highest standard.
-
Reviewing my peers code, and doing buddy checks on their work to ensure their work was held to the highest standard.
-
Playtesting and giving feedback, and trying to highlight any bugs and concerns that I had about the project to ensure it was being the best it could be.
I was extremely fortunate to spend time at Flix Interactive, unfortunately I was made redundant. But my time there was very valuable to me. I learnt so much and became a much better game developer and team worker because of it.
Jun 2020 - Present
Falmouth University - Senior Ambassador
This role is extremely similar to that of the Student Ambassador position. This being a promotion that I received near the end of my first year at University.
The responsibilities remained the same overall, but with a few additions. This role saw me in a position where I was responsible for the Student Ambassadors that I was working with at events. These responsibilities included training ambassadors, managing them during events, managing breaks, and being a point of contact in case of an emergency.
During this time, I also took on other jobs such as recording a virtual tour video of the campus that was used during webinars for applicants, giving socially distanced tours when restrictions started to ease up, and working for student records doing admin work. Most importantly though, I worked closely with the University to help provide COVID-19 Lateral Flow Tests to students and staff; helping to ensure the safety of all on campus.
Jan 2021 - Jul 2021
Weston College - Student Mentor
For this role, I was assigned a group of students that attended Weston College. It was a new scheme where university students would act as mentors and help those struggling with study skills and understanding assignments.
I mentored students who were on a Computer Science A level, holding hour long meetings every week. I tailored the meetings to their needs, asking them what they were struggling with. Eventually it turned into weekly programming lessons, where I taught C# weekly.
Aug 2020 - Sept 2020
College of West Anglia - Enrolment Officer (Returning to Role)
After completing my college course, I was offered a temporary position which acted as a summer job before heading off to University. It was a job role that I completed twice, in 2019 and 2020.
During my time in this role, I worked closely with Student Services to enroll students onto the courses they had applied to. The steps for this included;
-
Contacting applicants to follow up on their personal details.
-
Reviewing their application and GCSE results, confirming their eligibility for the course.
-
Enrolling them on the appropriate course, and taking payment if required.
-
Helping complete course contract forms.
-
General Admin and Student ID card printing, including the handling of student data.
Nov 2019 - Jun 2020
Falmouth University - Student Ambassador
This is a role that I took on alongside my studies at University. It was primarily a customer facing role, where I was primarily responsible for helping the university by speaking to applicants, about the university and my own experiences, at a variety of events. These events included Open Days, Webinars, UCAS Events, and School events.
As a Games Academy student, I would typically interact with applicants who were interested in joining the games industry. Introducing them to the facilities, highlighting how the courses work and the hard work that the lecturers put into preparing students for life in industry.

Tesco Checkout Assistant

Education
2019 - 2022
Grade: Merit
This course offered me chance to further my skills in Games Development, Programming, and Design. I decided to do this degree because I felt that I needed to work more on my personal development and wanted to explore Unreal Engine, something that I did not focus on whilst doing my undergraduate degree.
This course allowed me to explore UE5 in a supported environment, and allow me to learn alongside other students and create some really exciting projects together. I used this time to try and explore prototyping, so that I could quickly learn Unreal Engine as well as improving upon my programming skills by diving into C++ after some years exploring C#.
Working in teams from day one, we learnt by developing games using the 'Agile with Scrum' Software Development Life Cycle. Creating user stories to help plan sprints, reviewing and adapting our development based on what we managed to complete and player feedback.
2019 - 2022
Grade: First Class Honours (1st)
This course offered me chance to further my skills in Games Development and Programming. I started university with very minimal experience in this area, and this course has given me every opportunity to expand my knowledge and create projects that I can be proud of.
The Games Academy at Falmouth University taught me loads about working with a variety of different people in teams made up of specialisms such as programming, design, and art; teaching me how my role fits within that dynamic.

This course acted as a great introduction to the world of computing for me, and helped me get back into the educational mindset. It was not specialised in a particular part of computing, but instead covered a wide variety of subjects such as; Digital Design, Computer Hardware, Security, Human Computer Interaction, and Games Design/Development.
It was here that I first experienced Games Development. Learning briefly how to use software such as Game Maker Studio and Unity. I developed my first game here, designing the idea, the story, and then bringing it to life. I plan on coming back to this project to rebuild it from the ground up with the skills I have developed since then.
